With an area of slightly more than 21,000 km2, El Salvador is the smallest country in Central America and also the most densely population, with 332 inhabitants per km2.

El Salvador has a very warm tropical climate, especially on the Pacific coast. The temperatures drop the further moving inland. There are two distinct seasons: the dry season (from November to April) and the rainy season (which lasts from May to October).

Problems

The unequal distribution of wealth, the land, and the high unemployment levels are the main cause of problems in El Salvador.

Agricultural exploitation and strong demographic pressure on the land, which depletes natural resources, make El Salvador the country with the second highest level of deforestation on the American continent.
