  • A solidary tale

    A solidary tale

This Sunday, it’s time to celebrate! And you may ask “why”?
Because it’s August 31st, which the United Nations has declared International Solidarity Day.

In order to encourage, spread and promote solidarity among all people, we at Intervida propose a solidary tale.

This involves writing solidary phrases in the commentaries of this post, with one commentary being the continuation of the previous. This way, between all of us we will create a solidary tale in the form of a chain. Next week, we will publish the complete tale on the Intervida blog.

The more people who support this cause, the more strength we will have to change the world. Remember that we need you all. Get it started!

  • Successful initiatives

    Successful initiatives

When initiatives support what’s right, they are often met with success. And how could it be otherwise? Fundación Cádiz F.C. collected 6,000 books within the framework of the 3rd School Meeting, where students from all over Cadiz province came together to learn about respecting their peers and enjoying soccer without violence.

Afterwards, the company NACEX transferred the books to Intervida headquarters, where they were sent by boat to El Salvador. There, who better to deliver the donated books to Intervida’s Youth Centers than the legendary Mágico González, who played for both the Salvadoran national team and Cadiz.

More than 30,000 Salvadoran youths benefit from these centers which provide a space where they can access training and, above all, leisure and recreational activities, an important alternative in areas where high levels of violence exist.

  • Do It Yourself now on Facebook!

Do It Yourself now on Facebook!

If you’ve already designed a Do It Yourself t-shirt or you’ve seen the ones your friends have designed, you’ll be excited to learn about the campaign’s latest: a new “application” on Facebook, the most popular social network on the Internet.

We are talking about a new tool to spread the campaign against child labor exploitation which we launched in June.

Now, in addition to designing your t-shirt on the official campaign website, you can install* this new “application”, design new t-shirts, send these to your friends; and they, in turn, can send theirs to you. This way, you increase your opportunities to show your design to more people, and thus increase the chances that YOUR T-SHIRT be the winner of the campaign.

Keep an eye on the competition’s designs, see who has the most votes and, above all, get yours out there. Compete for a good cause, fight for children’s rights.

    * WE OFFER YOU TWO QUICK AND EASY WAYS TO INSTALL THE APPLICATION:

    1.      Go to Facebook and enter Do It Yourself in the Applications search engine.
    2.      If you are already logged on, open a new tab in your browser and copy this link: http://apps.new.facebook.com/hazlotunounnino.

  • Prospects for Salvadoran youths

We are pleased to present the new video which we have posted on Youtube about the lives of young people in El Salvador. It is encouraging to see that there are solutions to their problems and that projects like the youth centers are bearing fruit.

Many young people attend these centers to socialize with other children their age, learn the art of music or dance, participate in vocational workshops and share their hopes and dreams. For many of them, this gathering place is an alternative to the street, where they are easily exposed to drugs and delinquency.

But we won’t say anymore about it; it’s better that they share their experience with you firsthand. Visit our channel on Youtube and discover this and other videos we have posted.

Press play...and share it with your friends!

  • Visit our projects

    Visit our projects

It’s a hot July day. After work, you need to visit travel agencies to decide where to go on vacation. The beach, the mountains, relaxing, exotic…nothing convinces you because you’re the type of person who lives to learn about and immerse yourself in the customs and culture of other countries.

You go on Flickr to see if you can find a photo of someone’s trip to some country which convinces you that that should be your next destination. You see photos of Lyon, Lloret, Cadiz, New York…and then you see the PHOTO, or rather, the PHOTOS. Testimony from the Intervida sponsors who have traveled to India, the Philippines, Bangladesh, Ecuador, Nicaragua or Mali to get to know the projects we work on and, more importantly, to meet firsthand the children they sponsor and their families.

In Intervida we offer the chance for all of our sponsors to travel to their sponsored child’s country and get to know firsthand the project which we are carrying out thanks to their support.

Many sponsors are already preparing their trips for this August and September. Don’t miss the photos they’ll be hanging on Flickr and…you know…choose your destination!
