  • Over 80 Intervida collaborators visited the organization’s projects in 2007

    · Many collaborators took advantage of summer vacations to travel to the countries and visit the projects personally. · Of the 81 visits made in 2007, more than a third of these (28) took place between June and September. · The collaborators can travel to visit the community where their sponsored child lives whenever they wish by sending the organization an email at viajes@intervida.org or by calling 902 19 19 19.

  • Intervida promotes use of the SALT system in the Philippines to reduce the risk of landslides and improve land fertility

    · Thanks to the Sloping Agricultural Land Technology (SALT) System, farmers increase crop production without using expensive and scarce chemical fertilizers. · The project also helps to combat the deforestation and soil erosion affecting many parts of Southeast Asia, and to preserve biodiversity. · In addition, the SALT method helps reduce the risk of flooding and landslides which affect the high land areas of the Philippines, especially in the rainy season which runs from June to November.

  • Intervida collaborates in Kenya’s social recovery, offering support to some one thousand displaced people and returnees

    · INTERVIDA and SOPA offer economic aid, food, basic supplies and psychological support to displaced people and returnees. · INTERVIDA and SOPA have recognized the need to offer medical and psychological support to respond to the traumatic experiences of the returnees, making this the main focus of their assistance program. · The social recovery project in the district of Siaya has come at the right time, instilling hope in the victims and giving them a sense of humanity and dignity that they had thought lost.

  • Intervida El Salvador is recognized for its sustainable environmental management projects

    · The award is included in the “IX National Laurel for Environmental Protection” of the Environmental Fund of El Salvador (FONAES), an independent entity of the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources. · INTERVIDA’s sustainable environmental management projects include elements such as environmental awareness and education, natural resources management with an emphasis on drainage basins, and the promotion of renewable energy sources, among others.
