Intervida provides Facebook users with the opportunity to join ‘Do it Yourself’, its campaign against child labor

Madrid (14/08/2008). Aware of the increasing importance that social network services are acquiring every day, INTERVIDA has brought its ‘Do it Yourself. Give Them a Voice 2.0’ campaign to FACEBOOK (www.facebook.com). Through an application created for this website, FACEBOOK users can join this initiative of the organization.

Since its launch last June, the development of the ‘Do it Yourself. Give Them a Voice 2.0’ campaign has been closely linked to the Internet. A Web page for this campaign, www.hazlotumismo.org, was created and visitors to the site have the opportunity to support and commit themselves to the fight against child labor. Through the application in FACEBOOK, Intervida invites users of this social network service to show their most supportive side.

Until the 10th of September, visitors can create their own virtual t-shirt, demonstrating their commitment to fighting against child labor both from the Web page for the www.hazlotumismo.org campaign and from www.facebook.com. Furthermore, users can vote from among the online designs which are presented to choose the t-shirt which will be the image of the campaign, thereby getting actively involved in this initiative in a unique way.

Creating a FACEBOOK application is an excellent opportunity to make ‘Do it Yourself’ known, since t-shirt designers are responsible for presenting the campaign to their friends and acquaintances, inviting them to join this initiative by either creating their own design or voting their favorite t-shirt. That is, when users download the application to create their own virtual t-shirt, their FACEBOOK contacts will receive a notification and will also be able to see the design once they have downloaded the application.

Visitors to the Web page www.hazlotumismo.org have the opportunity to learn more about this problem which affects millions of children in the developing world through diverse documentation and stories which bring them closer to the lives of several children who are victims of labor exploitation.
